Superb hotel cum pub.  Difficult to find – take the Constantine road from Argal reservoir and around 1 mile from Constantine you will see a sign to the pub.  It has won best pub in the County before and deservedly so.  Super atmosphere, great ale and excellent food.  It does get busy during the summer.  Amazing, as it’s remote!  The place is also a wine merchants – Cochonnet Wines -which imports from many different vineyards around the world.  You can buy just 1 or many bottles.  Super selection of single malts as well.  NB. The Post office in Constantine has a huge selection!   Stu 9/10 Jan 2002

Right out in the Clay District – The Cornish Alps.  This serves the village and has a large bar and 3 drinking sections.  The food is meant to be all-right.  Stu 6/10 Dec 2000

Lots of granite on the outside and the inside. Three different areas, one for dining, one for pool and one for darts which has a lot of trophies in it. Standard St Austell decor, with lots of wood panelling.  John 7.5/10 Dec 2000

Granite pub set in China Clay 'mountain' district which is very attractive. Friendly service, with separate games area with trophies displayed and dark wood varnished tables.  Very nice Ladies! Liked the wood and stone décor and TASTEFUL Xmas decorations in red and green only!  Sue Dec 2000

Head towards St.Just on the A3071 after Penzance and the village is about half way there.  Stone built pub with a nice atmosphere, set in an expanse of stunning moorland.  I normally visit it on the way back from a ‘St. Just session’, so I cant remember a lot about it!   (I must try harder).  Stu 7/10 1998

Old pub on the road to St Just. Nice traditional feel to the place with granite walls, old beams, etc. Good village pub with a good landlord to match. Nice and cosy, shame we had to move on to St Just, maybe I do it the opposite way - Stuart does it on the way back from St Just!  John 8/10

Extremely friendly and helpful landlord.  Plants outside are very pretty and it is very attractive from the road. Quaint old feel with nice stone walls and flowered upholstery, attractive bar area with beams. All in all a real village pub atmosphere.   Sue 1996

Busy village pub in Newlyn.  Stone walls and good atmosphere created by the local fishermen.  This is a good place for a session.  You also get a wonderful view over Mounts Bay from the windows.  Stu 7.5/10 1998

Wonderful pub in a fishing town. Nice views of the sea from the pub.  Lots of artefacts seem to be left by overseas seaman. Its the sort of place, you can imagine seeing fisherman at the end of the day.  John 9/10

A beautiful view from the pub of the entrie coastline round to Penzance and St Michael’s Mount. A friendly locals pub with a good atmosphere. Pretty varnished wood panelling on walls and bar. Nice collection of shells and other objects on the ceiling.  Sue July 1996.

Large, modern but impersonal pub.  Not my cup of tea – or beer.   Cash registers ring merrily when you walk in.  Stu 6/10 Sept 97

Pubs often reflect the communities which surround them. So with Newquay trying to be Britain’s answer to Majorica, you have to except the pubs to go for the young tourists market. Lots of attractions to kept them amused. Not bad for a town centre pub, in a busy tourists town.  John 7/10 Sept 97

A large town centre pub. Rather run down, with unattended window boxes. Fruit machines and loud TV. Quite nice dark wood room dividers and nice ornamental jars.  Sue

Recently acquired by St Austell with spectacular views over Towan Beach.  Try the beer garden in the Summer.  When we visited it was blowing a gale.  Very large pub nicely modernised by the brewery.  Families welcome..  Stu 8/10 Feb 2002

Large pub with great cliff top views of the beach. Well thought out pub with something for everyone, including 2 pool tables, children’s room, seats by the windows, non smoking dining area and a beer garden overlooking the
beach. I Like the' beware seagulls do not take your food ' signs. Visited on a cold, wet, very windy February still some surfers out in the water! Good pub.  John 8.5/10 Feb 2002

Very much a hotel bar but reasonable.  The odd piano player might appear from time to time.  Great views over the sea from the seating area.  Stu 7/10 Sept 97

A large upmarket hotel bar with good seafront views over the cliffs. More of a hotel bar than a pub ,with some very plush furniture. The sort of places you except to see a group of elderly holiday makers come in for there cream teas, which was exactly  what happened.  John 7/10 Sept 97

A large hotel set on a cliff. Lovely sea views from huge bay windows and large window boxes with a variety of plants. Deep pink furniture and lovely paintings and lamps. Good views of the whole town and the beach just down below. Very relaxing and quiet atmosphere.  Sue

Pub with a modern front. Inside is a little like a Courage pub from the 1980s with red carpet, black beams and white walls. That said its a nice cosy dimly lit pub with a interesting collection of framed banknotes on the
walls. John 7.5/10 Feb 2002

Large two bar pub with separate dining area and family games room. Pub is a fair walk from the centre so it does not attract too many youngers drinkers. Decor is a little like a country hotel bar, done out in green with a red carpet.  John 7.5/10 Feb 2002

Open plan pub with views out to the harbour, with a separate dining area.  White walls with old pictures of Newquay, wooden floorboards, slate walls and a nice fireplace for the winter. TV screens and pool tables for the summer tourists. Sat in some nice old leather seats.  John 8/10 Feb 2002

Knee high in wood shavings and peanut shells.  The flagship and only pub which Skinners brewery own.  All of their range of beers on tap.  Wooded barrels & hops add to the décor. A converted shop by Berties Nightclub with a large front and smaller back drinking area.   Stu. 9/10 February 2002

Decor is in the old ale house tradition with wood panelling around the floor and the ceiling, wooden barrels, dry hops, hop sacks and pictures of brewing. Free peanuts which you can throw on to the floor with the sawdust. Nice cosy red seats and dimly lit. Good choice of Skinners good beers. Good conversion of a shop, but the loos are a little on the small side!  John 9/10 visit Feb 2002

Bikers pub but its ok.  Close the Central Inn, I once had a beer going in each pub and walked back and forth between them.  Stu 7/10 Sept 97

Another Newquay pub aimed at the young tourists. Visited the pub Sunday afternoon was a little empty, large disco pub with lots of screens. I am not sure if the stage is for a disco or a live band, but no music was on. Different from most St Austells pubs you go into. Wonder how much beer they sell from the lone St Austells handpump!  John 7/10 Sept 97

An unusual, sports and heavy metal orientated pub. Disliked the loud and obtrusive TV screens, but otherwise liked it. Heavy metal bands appear on stage and decor is associated with motorbikes, with a very attractive photo of one. Walls covered with biking memorabilia. Rather a 'mans' pub, but i liked it.  Sue

Who likes curries?  Well I do and when I visited it had a blackboard full of them!  The pub does great food and decent beer.  Situated in a wooded valley just 200 metres off the A38 this is a handy pub.  Two bar areas and a nice conservatory.           Stu. 7/10 July 2000
